12 pops in 90ml moldsIngredients
Ingredients
Orange Layer
- 2½ cups (600ml) Florida Orange Juice
- ⅓ cup (67g) granulated white sugar
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
Creamsicle Layer
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) Florida Orange Juice
- 1 cup (240g) plain Greek yogurt
- ½ tablespoon orange zest
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
- 2½ tablespoons (38g) sweetened condensed milk
Instruction
Preparation
- Make the orange layer: In a blender or with an immersion blender, combine orange juice, granulated sugar, and orange zest. Blend until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture is smooth, about 30-60 seconds. Pour the orange mixture into a bowl or pitcher and set aside.
- Make the creamsicle layer: Rinse the blender, or in a separate bowl with an immersion blender. Add Greek yogurt, orange juice, orange zest, vanilla extract, and sweetened condensed milk. Blend until completely smooth and creamy, about 30 to 60 seconds. Pour the creamsicle mixture into a separate bowl or pitcher for easier pouring if needed.
- Pour the creamsicle layer into the bottom of each popsicle mold, filling about ⅓ of the way full.
- Add a layer of the orange mixture, filling the remainder of the mold. Make sure to leave about ⅛-inch of space at the top for expansion during freezing for easy removal.
- Insert popsicle sticks into each mold.
- Freeze until completely solid, at least 4 hours or preferably overnight, to ensure they are completely frozen.
- To remove the popsicles, run warm water over the outside of the molds for 10-15 seconds, then gently pull them out.
Notes
- For best results, freeze overnight for completely solid popsicles. The sugar content in these treats needs a bit longer to freeze.
- Try alternating thin layers for a striped effect. There will be proportionally more orange juice than yogurt, so keep this in mind when layering.
- Do not overfill your molds, as the liquid in the popsicles will expand as it freezes. Leave about a ⅛-inch of clearance at the top of each popsicle mold to prevent anything from spilling and for easier removal.
- If you don’t have popsicle molds, use paper cups. Allow the mixture to sit in the freezer for 1 hour, then insert a wooden popsicle stick into the center and continue to freeze the popsicles as normal until completely solid.
- Popsicles can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months if wrapped individually and tightly in plastic wrap.
- For easier removal, let popsicles sit at room temperature for 1-2 minutes before running the molds under warm water for 30 seconds to 1 minute. This will allow the popsicle to slip right out of the mold.
