{"id":661,"date":"2018-06-08T08:54:04","date_gmt":"2018-06-08T12:54:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.floridacitrus.ca\/oj\/?post_type=fdoc-recipe&#038;p=661"},"modified":"2024-06-04T11:02:01","modified_gmt":"2024-06-04T15:02:01","slug":"tampa-bay-hot-toddy-recipe","status":"publish","type":"fdoc-recipe","link":"https:\/\/www.floridacitrus.ca\/oj\/recipes\/tampa-bay-hot-toddy-recipe\/","title":{"rendered":"Tampa Bay Hot Toddy Recipe"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Ginger Syrup:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-ingredients\">\r\n<li>1 cup fresh ginger root, chopped<\/li>\r\n<li>1 cup sugar<\/li>\r\n<li>1 cup water<\/li>\r\n<li>1 cup (240 ml) bourbon<\/li>\r\n<li>1 cinnamon stick<\/li>\r\n<li>10 whole cloves<\/li>\r\n<li>6 peppercorns<\/li>\r\n<li>2 Florida oranges, sliced<\/li>\r\n<li>2 ounces honey<\/li>\r\n<li>4 ounces (120 ml) Florida orange juice<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Garnish:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>4 Florida orange slices<\/li>\r\n<li>4 cinnamon sticks<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preparation<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions\">\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions-step\">\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions-step__title\">PREPARE GINGER SYRUP IN ADVANCE:<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions-step__text\">\r\n<div>\r\n<p>1. Combine gingerroot, sugar and water in saucepan and bring to boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved.<\/p>\r\n<p>2. Lower heat, cover saucepan and simmer for 2 minutes.<\/p>\r\n<p>3. Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for at least 2 hours.<\/p>\r\n<p>4. Strain into bottle and discard ginger; cover and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions-step\">\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions-step__title\">FOR COCKTAIL:<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions-step__text\">\r\n<div>\r\n<p>1. Place bourbon in saucepan. Place cinnamon stick, peppercorns and cloves into sachet; tie with kitchen twine to close. Add sachet, Florida orange slices, honey and 1 ounce prepared Ginger Syrup to saucepan.<\/p>\r\n<p>2. Bring bourbon mixture to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes.<\/p>\r\n<p>3. Turn off heat; remove sachet. Add Florida orange juice and ladle into toddy glasses.<\/p>\r\n<p>4.
