{"id":206,"date":"2018-06-05T14:20:04","date_gmt":"2018-06-05T18:20:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.floridacitrus.ca\/oj\/?post_type=fdoc-recipe&#038;p=206"},"modified":"2024-06-04T15:54:47","modified_gmt":"2024-06-04T19:54:47","slug":"florida-oj-smoked-salmon-with-pickled-onion","status":"publish","type":"fdoc-recipe","link":"https:\/\/www.floridacitrus.ca\/oj\/recipes\/florida-oj-smoked-salmon-with-pickled-onion\/","title":{"rendered":"Florida OJ Smoked Salmon with Pickled Onion"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-ingredients\">\r\n<li>2 cups (480 ml) Florida Orange Juice<\/li>\r\n<li>2 Florida Grapefruit, peeled, cut into \u00bc-inch slices<\/li>\r\n<li>1 cup (240 ml) water<\/li>\r\n<li>1 cup (240 ml) champagne vinegar<\/li>\r\n<li>3 tbsp. sugar<\/li>\r\n<li>3 tbsp. pickling spice<\/li>\r\n<li>1 red onion, sliced, separated into rings<\/li>\r\n<li>1 bunch fris\u00e9e, cleaned<\/li>\r\n<li>12 oz. smoked salmon<\/li>\r\n<li>\u00bc cup extra virgin olive oil<\/li>\r\n<li>Salt to taste<\/li>\r\n<li>Pepper to taste<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preparation<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions\">\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions-step\">\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions-step__text\">\r\n<div>\r\n<p>Combine\u00a0Florida Orange Juice, water, vinegar, sugar and pickling spice in small saucepan; bring to a boil. Turn off heat and add onion rings; remove from stove and cool to room temperature. Remove onion rings; reserve pickling liquid.<\/p>\r\n<p>Place bed of fris\u00e9e on serving plates; top with one grapefruit slice. Place layer of onion rings on top of grapefruit slice, then layer of salmon.<\/p>\r\n<p>Repeat layers with\u00a0Florida Grapefruit slices, onion rings and salmon. Garnish with fris\u00e9e, if desired.<\/p>\r\n<p>Remove 1\/3 cup reserved pickling liquid; whisk in olive oil. Drizzle mixture over grapefruit towers.
