{"id":140,"date":"2018-06-04T12:49:33","date_gmt":"2018-06-04T16:49:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.floridacitrus.ca\/oj\/?post_type=fdoc-recipe&#038;p=140"},"modified":"2024-06-05T06:00:04","modified_gmt":"2024-06-05T10:00:04","slug":"chicharrones-adobo","status":"publish","type":"fdoc-recipe","link":"https:\/\/www.floridacitrus.ca\/oj\/recipes\/chicharrones-adobo\/","title":{"rendered":"Chicharrones Adobo"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-ingredients\">\r\n<li>16 ounces (474 ml) Florida orange juice<\/li>\r\n<li>1\/4 cup white vinegar or rice vinegar or red wine vinegar<\/li>\r\n<li>1\/2 cup soy sauce<\/li>\r\n<li>1 head of garlic, peeled and finely chopped<\/li>\r\n<li>1 bay leaf<\/li>\r\n<li>1\/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon olive oil or canola oil, divided<\/li>\r\n<li>1 chipotle chile or other favorite chile, finely chopped<\/li>\r\n<li>4 pounds boneless chicken breast, cut into thin strips<\/li>\r\n<li>4 cups sliced onions<\/li>\r\n<li>Salt and pepper, to taste<\/li>\r\n<li>4 red bell peppers, thinly sliced<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preparation<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions\">\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions-step\">\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions-step__text\">\r\n<div>\r\n<p>Combine the orange juice, vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, bay leaf, \u00bc cup olive oil and chile.\u00a0 Remove 1 cup of marinade; reserve and refrigerate in covered container.\u00a0 Add chicken strips to marinade; cover and refrigerate up to 8 hours.\u00a0 Heat a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions-step\">\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions-step__text\">\r\n<div>\r\n<p>Add remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil and onions; cook onions until deep golden brown. Remove chicken from marinade and add to skillet. Season with salt and pepper; brown chicken on all sides. Add reserved 1 cup marinade and deglaze the pan. Add red bell peppers; still until combined.
