{"id":315,"date":"2018-05-28T20:17:00","date_gmt":"2018-05-29T00:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.floridacitrus.ca\/grapefruit\/?post_type=fdoc-recipe&#038;p=315"},"modified":"2024-06-06T08:51:44","modified_gmt":"2024-06-06T12:51:44","slug":"petite-grapefruit-oatmeal-scones","status":"publish","type":"fdoc-recipe","link":"https:\/\/www.floridacitrus.ca\/grapefruit\/recipes\/petite-grapefruit-oatmeal-scones\/","title":{"rendered":"Petite Grapefruit Oat Scones"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-ingredients\">\r\n<li>1 Florida grapefruit<\/li>\r\n<li>180 g all-purpose flour<\/li>\r\n<li>50 g quick-cooking oats<\/li>\r\n<li>3 tablespoons sugar<\/li>\r\n<li>2-\u00bd teaspoons baking powder<\/li>\r\n<li>\u00bd teaspoon salt<\/li>\r\n<li>6 tablespoons butter, well chilled, finely diced<\/li>\r\n<li>2 eggs, beaten<\/li>\r\n<li>6 tablespoons single cream (or a mixture of single cream and milk for a lighter alternative)<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Grapefruit Glaze:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-ingredients\">\r\n<li>200 g powdered sugar<\/li>\r\n<li>2 to 3 tablespoons grapefruit juice<\/li>\r\n<li>1 tablespoon grapefruit zest<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preparation<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions\">\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions-step\">\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions-step__text\">\r\n<div>\r\n<p>Preheat oven to 200\u00b0 C.<\/p>\r\n<p><br \/>Remove zest from grapefruit with zester; reserve.<br \/>Peel grapefruit, segment and dice.Line a plate with a double layer of paper towels; place diced grapefruit on paper towels and drain well.Blot grapefruit dry with additional paper towels; reserve.<\/p>\r\n<p><br \/>In medium bowl, combine flour, oats, sugar, baking powder, salt and reserved grapefruit zest.Cut in butter with a pastry blender or fork until mixture is crumbly.Whisk together eggs and single cream; pour half of egg mixture into flour mixture; stir just until combined.Add 2 more tablespoons of egg mixture to flour mixture; reserve remaining egg mixture.Stir dough until mixture forms a ball.Add diced grapefruit; mix in lightly.<\/p>\r\n<p><br \/>Turn dough onto a floured work surface; form dough into a ball.Knead dough lightly 3 times, adding a small amount of flour if dough is too sticky.Pat dough into 2 (15-cm) circles.Cut each circle into 6 wedges.<\/p>\r\n<p><br \/>Place scones on ungreased baking tray; brush with reserved egg mixture.Bake for 7 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown.Transfer scones to wire rack and cool completely.Drizzle with Grapefruit Glaze, if desired.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
