{"id":296,"date":"2018-05-28T18:50:35","date_gmt":"2018-05-28T22:50:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.floridacitrus.ca\/grapefruit\/?post_type=fdoc-recipe&#038;p=296"},"modified":"2024-06-15T09:09:18","modified_gmt":"2024-06-15T13:09:18","slug":"bbq-pork-belly-sliders","status":"publish","type":"fdoc-recipe","link":"https:\/\/www.floridacitrus.ca\/grapefruit\/recipes\/bbq-pork-belly-sliders\/","title":{"rendered":"BBQ Pork Belly Sliders"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-ingredients\">\r\n<li>1.5 kg pork belly, skin removed<\/li>\r\n<li>12 sandwich or slicer buns, steamed<\/li>\r\n<li>200 g red cabbage, shredded<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>For Marinade:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-ingredients\">\r\n<li>200 ml water<\/li>\r\n<li>125 ml Florida orange juice<\/li>\r\n<li>125 ml soy sauce<\/li>\r\n<li>25 g minced shallot<\/li>\r\n<li>60 ml hoisin sauce*<\/li>\r\n<li>3 tablespoons minced lemongrass*<\/li>\r\n<li>2 tablespoons lime juice<\/li>\r\n<li>2 tablespoons honey<\/li>\r\n<li>2 tablespoons sugar<\/li>\r\n<li>1 tablespoon Chinese five-spice powder*<\/li>\r\n<li>1 tablespoon minced garlic<\/li>\r\n<li>1 tablespoon minced ginger<\/li>\r\n<li>1 tablespoon fish sauce*<\/li>\r\n<li>1-1\/2 teaspoons Florida orange zest<\/li>\r\n<li>1 teaspoon sriracha sauce*<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>For Ginger Grapefruit Chutney:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-ingredients\">\r\n<li>100 g sugar<\/li>\r\n<li>125 ml rice vinegar<\/li>\r\n<li>550 g Florida grapefruit segments<\/li>\r\n<li>1 tablespoon minced ginger<\/li>\r\n<li>1 teaspoon curry powder<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preparation<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions\">\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions-step\">\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-fdoc-recipe-instructions-step__text\">\r\n<div>\r\n<p>Prepare Marinade: combine all ingredients in bowl; mix thoroughly to combine.Place pork belly in non-metallic baking pan; pour marinade over pork belly; cover and refrigerate.Marinate for at least 3 hours or preferably overnight.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>Bake pork belly with marinade in covered baking pan at 135 degrees Celsius for 2 to 2-1\/2 hours until pork is fork tender.Remove from oven; cool slightly.Place a flat plate or dish on top of pork belly; weigh down with heavy object and refrigerate overnight.<\/p>\r\n<p><br \/>Prepare Ginger Grapefruit Chutney: combine sugar and vinegar in medium saucepan; simmer over medium heat until reduced by half.Add grapefruit segments, ginger and curry powder; continue simmering until liquid evaporates.Remove from heat; reserve.<br \/>Remove pork belly from marinade; reserve marinade.Slice pork belly into 2-centimetre thick slices and cut into 8-centimetre lengths.<\/p>\r\n<p><br \/>Heat saut\u00e9 pan over medium-high heat.Saut\u00e9 sliced pork belly on both sides until brown and crisp.Add some reserved marinade to saut\u00e9 pan to glaze pork belly.<br \/>While pork is cooking, warm buns in steamer.Serve pork belly on steamed buns;
