Making the Grade Menu and More!

Can we just say how pumped we are for the Making the Grade: Rising Chef Cirus Cook-Off, our live-cooking competition that's part of the American Express ® Winterlicious Culinary Eventsin Toronto? It's pretty much all we're talking about. And it's clearly proving to be popular with others too as there are only a few tickets left (to learn more about the event and making a reservation, click here and a previous blog post here).

We're particularly excited Executive Chef Brad Moore's menu that will be served to those attending. He is so amazing at incorporating Florida grapefruit into recipes so creatively.  The competitors have a lot to legwork to do to match his standards. ;)  Check out the menu:

Hungry now? Um, yes, it's a problem every time we look at it.

We're also pleased to announce that the three students battling it out with Florida grapefruit inspired recipes will be trying to impress a judging panel of three fantastic Toronto food celebrities: Teo Paul (Chef at Union), Alison Fryer (manager of Toronto's The Cookbook Store) and Jennifer McLagan (food writer and stylist). We are so lucky and appreciative to have these people agree to join us.

The competitors are certainly going to have to pull out all the stops for a chance at the grand prize -- $2,000 and two Wüsthof knives (a 9" chef's knife and a 8" off-set bread knife from the Classic Ikon Series).  The knives are kindly provided by Wüsthof-Trident of Canada who is also offering the two other competitors with a 9" chef's knife (see below).  Many thanks to them for their sponsorship.

With the opportunity to enter for a chance to win a gift certificate to SCHOOL and a take-home bag for all 70 attendees, it will be the perfect mini-Florida vacation. Except for the students of course. They'll be sweating it out.

MS. HAZEL:
Good luck to the students, Brad and the team! I am miles away but am thinking of everyone. My best regards... especially to my favourite Floridian on the way up North :) BTW, the grapefruit in Oz doesn't even compare. All the best in the coming week - I am there in spirit!
